APP MEMBRANE WATERPROOFING :
The APP membrane, short for Atactic Polypropylene Membrane, is a special waterproofing material that is manufactured from Bitumen. They comes in rolls. Each roll measures 10 metres by 1 metre and covers an area of 8.7 m² .
Methodology :
a)Surface preparation:
Cleaning the surface with water jet. Any loose particles to be chiselled of and then patched with polymer putty made by mixing latex with cement. If the hallor is found to be damaged then that to be chiselled off and again hallor to be done with Polymer modified cementious mortarw. If the screed concrete on the roof is found to be damaged, then that to be removed and concreting need to be
done with Latex mixed with the green concrete.
b)Apply and supply of Sika® WP Shield-103 P /dr fixit 3mm - modifying premium grade asphalts with atactic poly propylene and specially reinforced with non- woven polyester.
c)Apply bituminous primer to a clean, smooth and dry surface by brush. Unroll and align and re roll correctly before torching. Overlaps should be minimum 100mm.Use gas burner to heat the substrate and thermo fusible film on the underside on lower face of membrane. When the thermo- fusible film melts after torching, the membrane is ready to stick. Roll forward and press firmly against the substrate to bond. Heat both the overlaps and use the round tipped trowel
heating the same to smoothen and press into seam. All angles and abutments should be sealed with extra care to ensure full bondage.
The edges should be sealed well into the grooves.
